Ambio Health provides the patient with the convenience of obtaining readings using compatible blood pressure monitors, glucose meters, and scales from the comfort of their own home. Ambio’s wireless connectors automatically send the readings to the Ambio Care Portal where users can track their health, compare their readings against predefined thresholds, and view a detailed record of their data.

Ambio Health set out to make remote patient monitoring affordable and simple enough for older adults and people living with chronic conditions. Small wireless connectors plug into off-the-shelf blood pressure and glucose meters, a wireless scale and a gateway connect to the home router, and every reading reaches the Ambio Care Portal automatically, with no computer or app for the patient to manage.
SurfaceID carried the hardware from industrial design through component sourcing, high-volume injection molding engineering and complete documentation for the product and its attachments. Ambio debuted the system at the CES 2013 Digital Health Summit, received FDA 510(k) clearance in July 2013, and was named a finalist in the 2013 Medical Design Excellence Awards, Rehabilitation and Assistive-Technology Products category.
