Mircom designs, manufactures and distributes fire detection, alarm and life-safety systems. Its MGC notification appliances, the horns, strobes and horn/strobes that alert people in an emergency, have to be seen and heard by everyone in a space, including people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
SurfaceID designed this notification appliance to offer a wide range of candela (light output) settings in a single device, so one model can meet the requirements of many different rooms instead of a separate unit for each.
The design works as a family: a horn, a strobe and a combined horn/strobe share the same clean, square face, in red or white. On the wall-mount models, the light output can be set in the field to 15, 15/75, 30, 75, 110 or 185 candela. The setting shows through a window on the front, while the controls sit on the back to prevent tampering.
