The MK Diamond TX-3 was a break away from traditional tile saw designs and a model of mechanical engineering. In collaboration with Edge PDC, SurfaceID also carried out a creative exploration of form and manufacturing processes that made the TX-3 stand out above competing products. Manufactured from sheet metal, die cast housings and aluminum extrusions, the TX-3’s sleek and modern aesthetic as well as its ergonomic innovations catapult this tool to the forefront of the diamond blade cutting industry.
Most tile saws cooled their cuts by pumping water out of a large pan, with overspray and dripping to match. The MK Diamond TX-3 broke from that tradition. This 10-inch wet tile saw sprays a fine, high-pressure mist onto both sides of the blade, so it uses far less water while still cooling the cut and keeping dust down.
SurfaceID explored the TX-3’s form and manufacturing processes in parallel, bringing sheet metal, die-cast housings and aluminum extrusions together in one sleek, modern tool. The result has ergonomic details and a look that set it apart from competing saws on the jobsite.
The TX-3 launched with a patent-pending misting system. A 55 psi pump sends an extra-fine spray to both sides of the blade and leaves only a toothpaste-like residue in the catch pan. For heavier work, larger nozzles come in the box, and a flood version of the saw delivers even more water.
An oversized cutting table with a side extension handles 24-inch (610 mm) straight cuts and 18-inch (457 mm) tiles on the diagonal. Cutting depth is 3-1/2 in. (89 mm) at 90° and 2-3/8 in. (60 mm) at 45°, and a built-in miter system has preset 22.5° and 45° slots.
A spring-assisted cutting head allows plunge cuts and locks in any down position when using a smaller blade or a profile wheel. The head also tilts to 45° for bevel cuts.
The guide bar system is maintenance-free, so it never needs regular lubrication, and the guide rail and bearing are shielded from dust and liquids. A hinged blade guard makes blade changes and inspections easy. The motor air filter is removable for cleaning, and the brushes are replaceable to extend the motor’s life.
A 1-3/4 HP, 120 V motor spins a 10-inch diamond blade on a 1-inch arbor at 3,500 RPM. At 85 lb (39 kg), the TX-3 cuts tile, stone, masonry and lapidary products.

What it took to make a simple-looking injection molded part look clean, feel solid, and come out of the mold. Tstand looks simple. It is a tablet stand that rests on your chest while you lie in bed or on the couch, so you can watch a movie without holding the device or craning your […]
