With a powerful combination of contrasted black light, heat chemical scent and movement, the Stinger MK100 was mechanically engineered to be a real bug killer. Its grill and funnel are designed to keep bigger beneficial insects away, and the sundowner sensor option automatically turns on when the sun goes down and bugs are out.

The Story Behind the Stinger MK100 and SurfaceID

After the CT100, Kaz asked SurfaceID to design its next product from scratch. The MK100 began as a working bench prototype. Once the team understood its working principles and the science behind it, the biggest task was to design a product in which the structural elements disappear.

A triangular form simplified manufacturing, opened up access for maintenance and gave the MK100 a distinctive look in the market. The final product was developed in Pro/ENGINEER. Field tests showed it was several times better at eliminating insects than the prototype, which itself had outperformed the products on the market at the time.

Five Lures in One

The MK100 combines five mosquito attractants: black light, heat, an octenol and lactic-acid scent, movement and colour contrast. A fan draws the insects in, and a charged grid eliminates them.

Protecting the Good Bugs

Its grill and funnel keep larger, beneficial insects out. The charged grid is hidden inside a protective outer enclosure, away from children, pets, birds and wildlife.

On at Sundown

The sundown sensor switches the MK100 on at dusk, when mosquitoes are out, and off in the morning, or the unit can run around the clock. It covers up to half an acre with no bags, nets, tanks, glue boards or pesticides.
